DREAMS:
Drug Repurposing with Artificial Intelligence for Muscular disorders

DREAMS is a European project aiming to discover and validate novel shared therapies capable of treating multiple rare Neuromuscular Disorders (NMDs) for which there is currently no therapy.

About the project

The goal of the project is to address the scientific, regulatory, and economic challenges of drug discovery for rare diseases by combining cutting-edge technologies to discover single drug treatments rapidly and cost-effectively, safe, and effective, that can be individually repurposed to treat multiple rare diseases (RDs).

It is expected that DREAMS will facilitate ground-breaking improvements in the development of therapies for RDs, specifically by developing innovative methodologies and tools that will depict the commonalities shared by the group of selected NMDs diseases. The generated knowledge is going to change the actual paradigm for developing therapies for RDs.

To achieve its purpose, DREAMS intends, on the one hand, to describe the common pathophysiological aspects of rare NMDs and, on the other hand, to generate a reusable drug discovery platform to accelerate and make economically viable the discovery of common drug therapies.
